Flea Pest Control

Flea Pest Control

Pinetown & Durban Flea Pest Control

A flea infestation extends beyond mere irritation; their bites can be intensely itchy, and there’s the added concern of potential disease transmission, such as murine typhus and tapeworms.

While pet owners are typically vigilant about the possibility of flea issues, it’s essential to recognize that you don’t need to own a pet to fall victim to a flea infestation. Fleas can be introduced into your household and yard by cats, rodents, and indigenous wildlife.

Homeowners often grapple with the challenge of eradicating a flea infestation, primarily due to difficulties in identifying and treating all infested areas, both indoors and outdoors.

At SkillPro Pest Control, we offer a guarantee of complete flea infestation elimination, providing you with peace of mind and a pest-free environment.

Your Pest Problems, Our Expert Solutions

How we get rid of fleas

As with all our pest treatments we start with a thorough inspection to fully understand the nature of the problem. Identification of all infested areas is critical to the success of a flea treatment.

Before we arrive…

  1. Mow your lawn as low as possible, as close to the day of treatment as you can
  2. Thoroughly vacuum your home

Although our treatments are very effective, if you can thoroughly vacuum the house before we arrive it has 2 key benefits:

  • It dramatically reduces the number of fleas, larvae and eggs present, making the treatment faster and more effective
  • It causes any pupae present to hatch, exposing the emerging flea to our treatment and so delivering a faster result
  • Make sure the vacuum waste is immediately placed in a plastic bag, sealed and placed in the garbage bin
  • Make sure the vacuum waste is immediately placed in a plastic bag, sealed and placed in the garbage bin
  1. Treat your pet with an appropriate veterinary flea treatment
  2. Arrange for your pet to be kept off site during the treatment

Inspection

After we arrive, we will inspect your home inside and out to determine the infested areas. It can be helpful if you can point out any of your pet’s favourite resting areas (inside and outside) as these are likely to have the heaviest flea infestation and will need to be treated.

Treatment

We will treat all infested areas and additional areas of concern with a water-based flea treatment. Typically, we use a combination of products, an insecticide to provide instant kill and some long-lasting protection and a special flea product which continues working after the insecticide has broken down. This flea product “breaks the breeding cycle” thus preventing any new flea infestations establishing for many months.

The treatment will include treating all pet resting areas inside and outside the home, and the sub-floor (if you have one) and if it can be accessed by animals.

After we leave…

It is important that all pet bedding is either thrown out or treated (hot wash / tumble dry).

Try and avoid washing or vacuuming floors for at least two weeks after the treatment.

We will always discuss any safety concerns you may have before carrying out a treatment. If we are carrying out a spray treatment, it will be necessary to keep children and pets out of the area until the treatment is dry. We always choose the products with the best safety and environmental profile.

Depending on the nature of the bird problem, the installation may be quick and the result instant or the installation could take several days, and it may take a while to exclude all the birds from the area and prevent their return. We will discuss any proposed bird management plan, so you know what to expect.
